GLOBAL MANAGEMENT CONSULTANCY - SALES/MARKETING ISSUES
CONSULTANT FOR THE ITALIAN OFFICE - MILAN

The company
Our client is a global management consulting firm dedicated to helping their clients achieve success in sales and marketing. Through a powerful combination of analytic methods, issue focus and industry expertise, they have established themselves as the leader in marketing and sales consulting. Founded in 1983 by two professors from Kellogg Graduate School of Management, the firm now employs 600 people world-wide and has six offices in North America and one each in the UK, Germany and France. Their Italian office opened in Milan last year.

Whilst they serve a variety of businesses, much of their work is in the pharmaceutical and health care sectors. Common projects include: sales force size and structure, marketing strategy, organisation design, micro marketing, data warehousing, incentive and compensation systems, performance evaluation and product forecasting. Their work has influenced the productivity of many of the world’s leading corporations and has impacted markets in more than sixty countries. Their culture is open, has a team working ethos and is lacking in arrogance, whilst encouraging early responsibility.

The position
In order to manage existing assignments and achieve their growth objectives in Italy, they are seeking to recruit two consultants. They will participate in teams that solve critical issues for clients’ senior management, ranging from broad strategic studies to the development of micro-marketing plans. They will make the recommendations come to life by putting together the plans, people, processes and tools to implement sustainable change in a client’s organisation. Moreover, project teams often consist of people from the other three European offices, offering diversity in nationality and team personnel.

The work will focus initially on pharmaceuticals and health care providers but they will be expected to play a part in developing the practice into other industries. Initially all Consultants participate in a two week new employee orientation course in Chicago which provides information on basic tools, resources and key practice areas. Continuing on-the-job and organised training is provided at regular intervals. Though consultants do travel, much client work is carried out in the office, rather than on client site, thus quality of life is superior to that experienced by many consultants.

The ideal candidate
Candidates are likely to have graduated in mathematics, natural sciences, engineering or economics and hold an MBA from a leading business school. They must be focused on fact-based consulting, applying analytical techniques to enable clients to gain a competitive advantage.

They will have one to two years’ consulting experience in a leading international firm and probably have previous non-consulting experience. Italian and English language skills are essential as is experience of working in and relating to an Anglo Saxon environment.

Candidates will be expected to demonstrate a logical approach to problem solving and to delivering innovative solutions to clients. They must have good communication and teamwork skills and enjoy working in a pro-active and informal office environment. The growing team of 6 professionals in Italy means plenty of responsibility and the opportunity to take a lead in all aspects of work. Candidates should be Italian nationals currently resident in Italy.

Rewards
In return, the firm offers a competitive compensation package, the opportunity to work on several short strategic projects in small teams, with plenty of responsibility and client contact. Current Consultants take great satisfaction from helping clients to grow and shape their businesses and from nurturing and developing long term relationships with clients.
